Young people and staff from Thurrock’s Pupil Support Service attended a session with the Olive Academies’ Board of Trustees and Executive Team in early March. The purpose of the away day was to explore how Olive Academies can ensure that its vision and values reflects the views of the young people and staff as the transition work takes place to open its first PRU academy in Thurrock in 2014.
The Board of Trustees gained new insights from the day as well as a very clear sense that there is a significant opportunity to transform the lives of young people through the creation of the highest quality educational provision at Thurrock and all future Olive Academies. The young people and staff contributed fully to the day and helped develop the following guiding principles for our vision to create successful schools and Alternative Provision:
- We will strive to achieve excellence through all that we do
- Our staff will be valued as professionals. We believe in investing in them to ensure that they develop as inspirational educational role models
- Young people from all backgrounds will be given the opportunity to succeed. We will build on their strengths and share their skills to improve their chances of success.
