Olive Academies is delighted to announce that Olive AP Academy – Thurrock has moved into a newly built academy building in Tilbury. Pupils and staff have already settled into the new state-of-the-art building with its brand new facilities.
The alternative provision academy provides a broad curriculum to a diverse group of young people and children aged 11 to 16 who have experienced difficulty in learning for a variety of reasons.
The building project began in 2014 when a suitable new site for the academy was found in Tilbury. The new building for Olive AP Academy – Thurrock was funded and built by Thurrock Council and designed by Ingleton Wood LLP in collaboration with Olive Academies’ staff and pupils. The new building will allow the academy to expand and have up to 120 pupils on roll.
Arwyn Thomas, Chief Operating Officer, Olive Academies said, “The move into the new state of the art building in Tilbury has given a real boost to our academy staff and to pupils’ self-confidence. The new building has given pupils access to the facilities and learning spaces that they so desperately needed. The Tilbury building will help to ensure that our pupils have the best opportunities, growing their ambitions for the future.”
Jo Hill, Headteacher, Olive AP Academy – Thurrock said, “It is an exciting time for the academy and with our fantastic new building and facilities I am confident that we can achieve great things. I want Olive AP Academy – Thurrock to be part of the local community; an inclusive academy which will allow children to develop the skills they need to enjoy learning and give our pupils the confidence and resilience to achieve success.”
